The Venue Sales team loves the movies, so we get extra excited when a major studio chooses Lincoln Center for their film or TV premiere! Just to name a few (because there have been many), The Great Gatsby, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Parts 1 & 2, and Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom all held their premieres in either Avery Fisher Hall or Alice Tully Hall with celeb-studded red carpets on Josie Robertson Plaza or the surrounding streets.
The bar was raised for creative party guests when a dragon descended on the Plaza. On March 18th, “Drogon” was the pièce de résistance of the premiere of the fourth season of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” in Avery Fisher Hall. In attendance were the cast, creators, crew, and fans of the show, including Peter Dinklage, Sophie Turner, Emilia Clarke, Jack Gleeson, Lena Headey, John Bradley, Amanda Peet, Sally Field, and others.
Only at Lincoln Center
HBO utilized the Plaza steps for guest arrivals, with red carpet on every step. The famous Revson Fountain was flanked on one side by “Drogon” and a tent for interviews on the other. (Watch the CNN coverage of the red carpet arrivals here.)
By special arrangement, the New York Philharmonic participated in the evening by playing live scores from the series before the premier episode was screened— “a pretty classy way to start the evening,” noted The Wall Street Journal.
